Sahm’s Atrium Wedding | Kyle + Jenna

We posted some of our favorites of Kyle and Jenna’s wedding photos last week. This week their wedding film is complete! We loved getting to know Kyle and Jenna and it was an honor to capture their wedding day with both videography and photography. The day started off the day at The Westin downtown for both bride and groom prep. Next we were able to do their first look in the beautiful park just east of The Westin. We went to the Indiana War Memorial as well as the Canal area around the Indiana State and Eiteljorg Museums. Then it was off to the Indiana State House for their wedding ceremony. Sahm’s Atrium was the location for their wedding reception. Sahm’s is just a quick 2 blocks from the Indiana State House so it was perfect for guest to walk on the beautiful July evening we had.

What I loved most about this wedding film was hearing their story. Hearing about how Kyle and Jenna met, how she was trying to get him to ask her out on a date, and the proposal she didn’t think would ever happen. Their personalities remind me so much of John and I.

Thank you Kyle and Jenna for having our team be a part of our amazing wedding day!!!

If you missed it you can see their Same Day Edit and their photo gallery.

Tabernacle Presbyterian Wedding | Kyle + Kassy

It had been a few years since we had Tabernacle Presbyterian wedding. It is such a beautiful church on the Northeast side of downtown Indianapolis. So I was thrilled when Kassy contacted me about filming their wedding to be filming there again. I was equally thrilled to be filming at the Grand Hall at Historic Union Station as well. Two amazing venues for a wedding.

It was a gorgeous day for Kyle and Kassy’s wedding. It isn’t usually typical for our clients to get ready at the church but Tabernacle Presbyterian has great getting ready rooms for the bride and groom. You could feel the excited leading up to the ceremony. Kyle and Kassy decided not to do a first look but they did get to pray together before the ceremony.

We love when our clients elect the interview aspect for their film. It ties together their story leading up to the wedding day. In Kyle and Kassy’s story I love how they both were determined to focus on their education when they arrived at Butler University as freshman and within months were dating. I also love that he took her back to Butler to propose.

The wedding ceremony so sweet. The reaction of Kyle seeing his bride walking down the aisle for the first time is priceless. Seeing the smile on Kassy’s face and the joy of becoming Kyle’s wife was apparent all day. It is wonderful to see and hear how important it is for them to put Christ at the center of their marriage. It followed through in the speeches given at the reception as well.

After the ceremony we headed to the Lockerbie area for photo session while the guests enjoyed cocktails at Union Station. Then it was time for the celebration!!! It was a fun reception at the Grand Hall at the Historic Union Station. Every time I am there I look around and think about all the people who came though on their travels via train to our great city.

Kyle and Kassy thank you for having us document your wedding day and create your film for you to watch for years and years to come.

South Bend Wedding Film | Zachery + Carol

Zachery and Carol’s South Bend wedding ceremony took place at the beautiful Holy Spirit Chapel in LeMans Hall on the Saint Mary’s Collage campus. Carol is a Saint Mary’s Alumni and it is also the place Zachery asked her to be his girlfriend. The reception took place at the lovely St. Joe Farm not far away in Granger, Indiana. The farm has historical ties to both Saint Mary’s College and the University of Notre Dame. It once supplied all the food for both campuses. There is a little fun fact for your day.

I first met Zachery and Carol via a Skype call since they were living in Illinois at the time and could not meet in person. I loved getting to know them, their story, and what was important to them. They told me they met on Catholic Match and their Catholic faith is very important to them. I created their wedding film to reflect their faith. It was not difficult to do since Father Ryan’s message tied not only their personal faith into the scripture readings but how they as a married couple will continue to live a life of faith.

We love when we get a South Bend Wedding. They are usually tied to the University of Notre Dame or Saint Mary’s College. Both have beautiful campuses. After the ceremony the couple and bridal party went around the Saint Mary’s campus for photos before heading over to Notre Dame to visit the Grotto so Zachary and Carol could light a candle and pray together as a married couple.

We then made our way to St Joe Farm for the reception. What a beautiful barn. It is probably the largest barn we have ever filmed a wedding in. Oh and one of the few that has air conditioning. Perfect for a July wedding. If you are getting married in the South Bend area, I highly recommend checking this place out!!! The cocktail hour was outside then everyone moved inside for dinner and dancing.

Zachery and Carol thank you for having us film your wedding day. It was an honor to document your story and create your wedding film.

Hidden Hollow Farm Wedding | Chris + Tammy

It was such a perfect day for Chris and Tammy’s Hidden Hollow Farm wedding. Hidden Hollow Farm is a newer venue in Crawfordsville, Indiana. We love filming at new places. We started off our day with Tammy and the girls getting ready His Harvest Home which is a renovated farmhouse and vacation rental just outside Crawfordsville. And with Chris and the guys at Hidden Hollow Farm. As Tammy mentions she has an obsession with makeup and she did her own makeup for the wedding. She is very talented!

As soon as the girls were ready it was time to head over to the farm for some pre-ceremony photos around the farm. Chris and Tammy decided not to do a first look. We get asked often about whether or not a couple should do a first look. It is such a personal decision and we love either way. The ceremony took place down a beautiful path from the barn. I loved that Tammy had her great-grandma as her flower girl. I also loved that they incorporated some of Chris’ cultural traditions into the wedding. Chris’ mother made lace gloves and put them on Tammy during the ceremony prior to coin ceremony.

After the ceremony it was time for photos with family and the couple as well as cocktail hour for the guests. {You can check out their beautiful wedding photos from Sara Ackermann.} Their reception entrance was a surprise to everyone {except us} and I have to say it was pretty incredible seeing them both dressed up in T-rex costumes dancing into their wedding reception. It was such a fun and beautiful night.

We did a short interview with both Chris and Tammy, and loved learning about how they met, what they love about the other and when they both knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. It was also a common theme in the speeches at the reception these two are meant for each other.

Chris and Tammy it was such a pleasure to not only film & edit your wedding, but to get to know you know and your family and friends. You are both amazing!!!

Conrad Hotel Wedding | Nick + Katey

We always get excited when we have a Conrad Hotel Wedding. It is one of our favorite venues downtown. We started off our day at the Conrad to get Nick and Katey getting ready for their big day. The buzz of the preps is always so fun to capture. The anticipation, nervousness, and excitement as the time gets closer to seeing each other for the first time. Nick and Katey are extremely close with their family and friends. It was so evident seeing the interactions all morning.

Nick and Katey did a first look in the fabulous Kite Suite. I loved hearing Nick’s reaction when he turned around and saw Katey for the first time that day. I am pretty sure it took his breath away. We were able to have some time there to get some wonderful shots of just the two of them before meeting up with their bridal party for more photos before the ceremony. Before leaving The Conrad Nick and Katey each had a special bracelet that was inscribed for each of their new mother-in-laws. It was so sweet and I (Jen) was for sure crying behind the camera.

Next we were off to the the infamous Circle in the very center of downtown Indianapolis for bridal party photos. One of the things I love about working with Jessica Strickland is her energy. It also carries over when I am editing and I can hear her commentary with the bridal party and bride and groom while she is shooting their photos. Once photos were finished it was time for their lovely ceremony at Christ Church Cathedral. Dating back to 1837 Christ Church Cathedral has a long history right in the heart of downtown. Dean Steve Carslen performed a beautiful ceremony for Nick and Katey.

It was time to head back to The Conrad Hotel for the reception. As Katey’s dad Mike got up to give his welcome speech you can tell the guests were so excited and ready to have a good time. It was a wonderful party with the dance floor packed all night (thanks Jim Cerone)!!!

Thank you Nick and Katey (and your amazing families) for having us document one of the most important days in your life.

You may remember their TRAILER we posted right after their wedding.

Indianapolis Museum of Art Wedding | Matt + Hilary

The week leading up to Matt and Hilary’s Indianapolis Museum of Art wedding was a bit of a roller coaster. Only because the weather forecast was crazy. It seemed every hour the forecast for their day would change from rain to no rain and back to rain. Their wedding ceremony was in the Formal Gardens with their reception under a tent at the Garden Terrace. Thankfully it turned out to be a gorgeous sunshiny day. As far as outdoor locations in the city, having an Indianapolis Museum of Art wedding is one of my favorite outdoor locations.

The day started with the girls and the guys getting ready at the Garden Terrace. I always love the buzz of the preps. The anticipation for both the bride and groom seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day. Matt wrote the sweetest letter to Hilary and she decided to read it out loud which in turn was a great addition to their wedding film. The first look was so beautiful just outside the Garden Terrace in a wooded spot. Matt is a firefighter so it was extra special to have the antique firetruck on site for some of their wedding photo session.

I always love when the officiant has a personal connection with the couple. It really does come through in the ceremony. She had such lovely things to say and was so poetic. I’m sure you can tell I was able to use her narrative to drive their wedding film. The ceremony was stunning with the fountain of the gardens in the background. It could not have been a more perfect day for Matt and Hilary.

The cocktail hour and reception were back at the Garden Terrace. Dinner and dancing took place in the tent. It was such a great evening. The speeches were heartfelt and I loved when Hilary’s dad pointed out how he noticed Matt loves Hilary as much as he loves his wife Sherri. At the end of the night everyone gathered for a sparkler exit to send Matt and Hilary off.

Matt and Hilary thank you for having us there to capture your wedding day and create this treasured wedding film for you to watch for your lifetime.

Canal 337 Wedding Film | Alex + Rachel

Canal 337 Wedding of Alex and Rachel by Northernlight Filmworks (Thumbnail image by Conforti Photography)

Alex and Rachel’s Canal 337 wedding was absolutely perfect. With a very rainy week leading up to the big day, the forecast seemed to keep changing every minute. When I woke up that morning and saw how dark and rainy it was I just kept praying it would pass. While they were not having an outdoor wedding, I do love being able to get outside in natural light during their photo sessions. I also didn’t want their surprise reception entrance to get rained out.

We stared the day off with the girls at the salon getting their hair and makeup done. The atmosphere as the girls were getting ready was so fun. At this point it was still raining, but just as it was time to head to Canal 337, the skies dried up and blue sky was emerging through the dark thick clouds.

It was just a hop skip and a jump over to Canal 337 where the girls finished up getting ready for the wedding. Alex and his groomsmen arrived all ready to go. As our luck would have it, it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day for their pre ceremony photo session. It was such a beautiful ceremony with a lot of heartfelt moments and moments of laughter. I love how their minister really personalized their ceremony and honored their families.

Alex and Rachel decided not to have a first look before the ceremony (which I do love just as much as a first look) we headed out around the canal for a little photo fun with the bridal party then just Alex and Rachel. What they didn’t know was we were making our way toward a gondola waiting for them to take them back to their cocktail hour. When they did their engagement photos Rachel had asked if they could get in one for a photo and she was told no. She was reliving the story as we got closer and jokingly asked if they could get in for a photo and was shocked with they said yes. Then was even more surprised when they said it was theirs waiting to take them for a ride. I love all the cheering from their wedding guests as they arrived back at Canal 337.

The rest of the evening was spectacular with an amazing dinner and dancing to one of our favorite bands. Thank you Alex and Rachel for having us film your wedding day and create your film for you to watch for years to come.

St Elizabeth Seton Wedding | Dan {+} Lyssa

I first met Lyssa 3 years ago when we filmed her sister Kaylee’s wedding. So of course I was over the moon to received an email from Lyssa letting me know it was her turn to get married. I set up a meeting with Lyssa and Dan to get the particulars about the big day. It would be our first time filming a St Elizabeth Seton wedding. While we love the houses of worship we film in over and over again, it is refreshing to film somewhere new. This would also be our first time filming at Piper’s at the Marott. When Dan and Lyssa came to meet with me, I could tell instantly they are a perfect match.

One thing that struck me when I met this family three years ago was their faith. They wear their faith on their sleeve and you know instantly how important it is to them. Lyssa and Dan’s wedding was no different in that sense and knowing the Mass was the most important aspect of their wedding. I love getting to know our clients and knowing what is important to them helps me tell their story. As with many of our couples we sat down with Dan and Lyssa on camera so they could help narrate their story. Not only did their interview guide the storyline, but the homily fell right into place as did Kaylee’s speech at the reception. I hope you enjoy Dan and Lyssa’s story. For me it shows two people faithful that God will revel his perfect plan for their life in his perfect timing. That perfect plan and timing came in the form of a Catholic dating site.

Traders Point Creamery Wedding | Christopher + Lia

It was the perfect fall day for Christopher and Lia’s Traders Point Creamery wedding. Lia and the girls got ready in The Roost at Traders Point Creamery which over looked the lawn and garden area where they were setting up the ceremony. It was so fun seeing the progress of not only the girls getting ready but the progress of the ceremony site. Autumn of Isibeal Studio is so amazingly talented and watching the progress of her magic coming alive for the wedding is awe inspiring. I absolutely loved that Lia wore her mom’s wedding dress and had her grandmother’s diamond. It was so special for them.

Chris and the guys got ready downtown at the Westin. Once they arrived at Traders Point Creamery it was time for the first look. I am sure you will absolutely love their first look. The dock at the pond was the perfect location. Seeing how nervous Christopher was prior to the first look then how calm he got as soon as he saw her was magic.

The ceremony was beautiful and having Lia’s childhood youth pastor marry them made this ceremony extra special for them. This was the first time I have seen the braiding of the rope. This will be a beautiful piece hung in their home for a constant reminder of the commitment they have made to each other and keeping God in their marriage.

The Barn at Traders Point Creamery was beautifully decorated and of course Autumn’s floral design and the candles made it so romantic. The music of The Impalas had everyone danced the night away. Thanks to The Impalas for letting us plug into their board for the audio of the speeches.

We love working with our friends Cory + Jackie. We always know it will be an amazing day when we get to work together. And a special thanks to my friend Brian for coming and filming with me.

Columbia Club Wedding | Miles + Marissa

Miles and Marissa’s Columbia Club wedding was so beautiful. Just like many other weddings this year we were worried about the rain forecasted. I had gotten a text from Molly Connor the day before that she was going to get umbrellas just in case. Well it ended up we did not need them as the rain broke right before the first look. The audio of Miles seeing Marissa for the first time was priceless. We were able to get in their photo session as well around the circle before the black clouds rolled back in.

The ceremony took place on the first floor of the Columbia Club in front of the beautiful ornate glass windows looking out onto the Soldiers and Sailor’s memorial. Miles and Marissa’s ceremony was extra special because Miles grandfather was the officiant who married them. I always love special moments like that. After the “I Do’s” it was time to head up to the cocktail hour and reception. The reception took place on the third floor in the beautiful Crystal Terrace. It was such a fun party. Thank you Miles and Marissa for having us be a part of your wedding team to document your wedding day and create your wedding film.
